Letter and fragment of a story, 1900 April 29, n.d.

Letter comments on the synopsis of the first part of The House of Egremont which appears to be a play made of her novel of the same name. She declares the synopsis incomplete and makes suggestions for the location of the first scene and other improvements and also explains why she brings in the two ballet dancers. Fragment of a story is a synopsis of a tale concerning Rosalie who has come to Paris to put in the hands of the Italian Francesca Loderini a confession of her guilt in a crime in which she has betrayed Francesca. Rosalie returns to Besancon, refuses offers of marriage, repeatedly goes to look at Grand Chartreuse where the man, for whom she has committed the crime, is interred. She is severely wounded on a trip on the Loire and lives the rest of her life in seclusion with her religion and works of charity.
